Product Review - Fitbit Charge 3
The fact that I hate wearing any type of accessory didn't make my search for a new wrist watch/fitness tracker any easier. I tried on numerous products and one thing they all had in common, is that they were too large and heavy for me.
As a trainer, I need to be able to show a push up or a plank without having half the watch press into the back of my hand or having to slide it up before showing an exercise.
After a few weeks of research, I finally found the Fitbit Charge 3 and absolutely love it!
Not only does it (fairly accurately) display my heart rate and daily steps, it also keeps track of my calories burnt, kilometres walked and stairs climbed. It also has great additional features like logging how much water I drink a day. This feature has come in really handy, as I never drink enough! It also tracks your sleep and breaks down how many hours you spent in each sleep cycle. This information was interesting for me at the beginning in order to get an idea of my overall sleep habits but having something around my wrist all night was just not for me.
Much to my surprise, I do find myself pacing around at night when I am very close to my 10000 step goal and I really just want to get those last 200 steps in - talk about motivation!
It surely works for me and I learned a lot in terms of reading data. For example, some days, I would do a very hard workout at the gym but only end up having 6000 steps at the end of the day. I was very surprised at the low numbers of steps but when I looked at the calories burnt, I was quite happy to see the results of my hard work, knowing that I just needed to look at a different parameter. Over time, I also noticed my resting heart rate going down, which is usually a sign of the heart working more efficiently.
Overall, I absolutely love my Fitbit and I think it is a great tool to get some base numbers for overall health tracking.
Health and Fitness have always played an important role in my life.
